Two Door Cinema Club
"Something Good Can Work"
The Northern Ireland three-piece Two Door Cinema Club have evidently have been mining their own personal stock of sunshine through the harsh winter months to warm us up with 'Something Good Can Work'.The title's optimism seems to spread through the track, while vocalist Alex Trimble's conveys the messgae of the song very well withhis cool voice. Although the super catchy chorus is as pop as you can get there are a few odd touches thrown in, such as an instrumental break which really caches the listener, with a sample of a rowdy crowd thrown in that shouldn't work but does gives the song its own statement.
This single is far from bleak as what every they do to create this master peice they do extremely well and have the knack of keeping the listener on their toes; never quite sure of what they're listening to but happy to dance to it.
Every now and again a song comes along which has a great instrumental and ination of electro-pop and indie, the key to this song lies within a relentless beat combined with an airy guitar riff. Add in harmonious vocals and you've got an song everybody loves but whether it falls on the side of genius or annoyance may change with repeated listens!
